AFRICA
: THE CONTINENT AND THE STAKES
Africa
is a homogeneous continent, with an 11.6 square miles area, whose diversities
make up its wealth.
Its
fertile land and its natural and cultural ressources are exceptional assets
serving a durable growth potential. For Africa, the challenges of globalization
are the same as those taken up by the other continents.
Facing
these challenges, rid of old considerations and anchored in its realities
and values, Africa offers to the world its determination and its models of
development.
In
fact, several factors are determining for Africa's future :
Africa
is the first gold, platinum, diamond, bauxite, manganese exporter in the
world, and the second copper and raw petrol exporter. It is also the first
cocoa, tea, and tobacco producer in the world, and the second cotton and
sisal producer.
Its
economic growth and development are now enabled in an administrative, legal
and fiscal environement favourable to the emergence of a true performing
private sector.
Thanks to the establishment of vast economic spaces
such as UEMOA, CEMAC, SADC..., and the enforcement of OHADA, Africa represents
a market of 600 million inhabitants and 350 million consumers.
The
valuation of all its riches, in the wake of the XXIst century, enables Africa
to enter the actual global economy with determination and to take an active
part into it while preserving its own specific character and interests.
