GEOGRAPHICAL
SITUATION : Chad spreads from the borders of
the rain forest to the Sahara. It is limited to the north by Lybia, to the
east by Sudan, to the south by Central Africa and Cameroon, to the west by
Niger and Nigeria.
AREA : 495 701 sq miles
CLIMATE : Chad is a hot country with two seasons
whose lengths vary with latitude :
rain season from July to September
dry season from November to May

LIVE-STOCK : Breeding, the country's second most
important activity, is mainly family-run. One numbers 4 842 000 beef, 5 524
000 sheep and goats, 17 000 hogs.
MINING : The Chadian underground contains oil,
iron, gold, tin, tungstene, diamond, bauxite, gypsum, natron and quartz deposits,
among others...

perturbed by the political events, comprises six dominant large companies,

174 mile long asphalt road (linking N'djaména to Guedenleng in the
south and to Dandi in the north), the road network is made up solely of dirt
roads.
